MAKING OF d Falling from Earth [LB]

Directed by Chadi Zeneddine

Shot in Souq el Gharb (Lebanon), 06/01/2007
Making of directed by Sabine Choucair

Ammar CHALAK – Actor

I play the role of a father who happens to be really tough on his wife and his daughter yet at the same time, we see him as gentle and emotional vis-à-vis his wife. He knows how to truly love her.
I had several talks with Chadi, the director. We discussed the whole story, which I liked very much. Then he detailed the general aspects of my character. I generally am fond of antagonistic roles. Chadi knew exactly what he wanted from me, and I was able to build upon my perception of the role, implement it and sometimes, improvise it on set, and that was an interesting experience for me.
The relationship between the actor and the space that is surrounding him is highly important since the space helps the actor adjust the tone of his voice and his body movements as well as develop his feelings. This heavily wrecked space played a key role to enhance the emotions of the actors and, simultaneously, allow them to dive in the real mood of the film.
