Ahmed BOUCHAALA - Producer
She’s demanding, just as a director should be, she wants to see her film through to the end. She has a contract. She’s written a script and the film has to be as good as or better than that script. It’s a comedy, which is very difficult, comedy is much harder to do than drama, the actors often have to get laughs. The fact that the rhythm is so important means that she can be nothing if not demanding. I’m working with her on this film and it’s the first time that I’m not her co-director. This is her own film and I’m handling the production side. The technical crew are Moroccan and they’re all outstanding. We had support from the Moroccan film institute CCM and from TV networks 2M and SNRT. We have a very tight schedule, we have to be very careful as there’s no chance of extra shooting time. It’s very hard to get funding from abroad before shooting, for a film entirely in Arabic with an all-Moroccan cast, there’s just one French actress in a minor role.
