I am Patrick Chesnais, actor and filmmaker. I play the role of Bruno Caprice in Hani Tamba's film, entitled Melodrama Habibi. French ex-singer Bruno Caprice comes to Lebanon to discover not only the country but also love in the country. I found the script to be very beautiful and light. There was some kind of grace in it, to talk about the serious issues with in such a light way, since it is a light comedy and not a burlesque one. It's the occidental look of a French guy on a sacked land which is, at the same time, utterly rich. He discovers the heart of the country and the people, and then he finds love. Caprice is a man who came to Lebanon purely by chance. He was invited to sing a song in a time when he was in a harsh depression since his girlfriend has dumped him and has lost his job. So he arrives in this particular context to this particular country and that's the splendor of comedy. It's beautiful. The film ends on a sour note yet at the same time, it's a full of hope. It's a film which deals with people in depth, with the Lebanese. I think there's a very strong culture which is felt all through. And that has really touched me.
