We have been working with Hani Tamba since 8 years now. We have already produced his three shorts and we have developed with him his feature project: Melodrama Habibi. We have known Sabine Sidawi, who's the executive producer from Orjwan Productions, for a very long time. So we were aware of the quality of her work, and knew that she would do a good job, and find the best technicians. It's a bit cliché to say that each film and each production is different and yet a prototype at the same time, but that's true. It's the case here, with this film, which is a co-production between France and Lebanon, and co-productions are always distinctive cases. And what's even more particular in this film, at this moment in June 2007, is to film a comedy (because it's a comedy after all) within the current complicated and tensed context prevailing in Lebanon. There are several surreal moments. Once we were in the mountains near Bcharre (in North Lebanon) in an utterly beautiful place to shoot a witty scene when all of a sudden, we started to hear the bombings in the Tripoli region.
