This is an expensive movie. It’s an action movie where there must be specific specialities in the fight. So, coaching, training and fighters are required.
It’s a reconstruction movie, telling the history of Morocco during the XIX century and at the beginning of XX century, therefore costumes, settings and accessories must be recreated. To sum up, it’s a lot of money.
It’s understandable that some cuts will be made: for instance, if 300 horses had been planned, they will be 100, if 10.000 extras are required, they will be 3.000... if some super-star actors should be hired to sell our movie abroad, it’s necessary to curb our ambition. And all must be done considering, of course, the essential, considering the movie’s artistic intention, considering what was planned for the movie. Without losing this, as I’ve said, invention comes from need - I didn’t know this expression before - and it’s positive that the director Ahed BENSOUDA thought about it. Actually, it occurs that we follow the same direction, since I’ve done some researches too into the recent history of Morocco, because it’s essential for the knowledge of Moroccan youth, first of all for Moroccan youth
