Kamel Derkaoui - Cinematographer
Hassan of course has his own way of directing the cast and of art direction in general. On the technical side, La chambre noire was mostly in contrasting tones and with more sustained camera movements. Le bar is more or less the opposite, that's to say the lighting is more gentle and the camera movements are more fluid, less sustained, and we also use a lot of filters to try and tone down the color a little and warm up the images, age them a little. And the light is less contrasting; that's the overall approach of the film.
I'd say I'm satisfied with the film, in general terms. As for my photography in particular, I've never said I'm satisfied with my photography; I will always say my best shots will be for the next film. That's how it's always been; always the next film. And on the next one I'll give the same answer. |
