MAKING OF dHassiba [Syria]

Directed by Raymond Boutros

Shot in Damascus, Syria,  08/12/2006
Making of directed by Gilbert Cherfane

Sulafa Fawakherji – Actress

‘Hassiba,’ as the director and everyone around here believe is a film dedicated to the women of Damascus. The film takes place between 1927 and 1952 approximately. Through the story of a lady living in Damascus and all the tumultuous events she is undertaking, we unravel the political scenery which prevailed in Syria at that time.

This role is, to me, very rich and pleasant to be tackled since it has many facets, were they in the age periods of this woman or the deceptions that she has faced in her life, within her work field, and all the successes and failures that have shaped her.

This constantly challenges me, as an actress, to work on improving myself, and find new insights to my character.

I sincerely hope this film will have a positive outcome since we all put our heart to achieve it.
