MAKING OF d Baby Doll Night [EG]

Directed by Adel Adeeb

Shot in Cairo, Egypt on 27-28/09/2007
Making of directed by Amro Alhadidy

Adel Adeeb - Director

The film is about the Human Being, wherever he could be, whether in his moments of joy or depression, through his problems, troubles and weaknesses. The film is really a call for both the East and the West. There is no such thing as “Us” and “Them”, but rather “All of Us”. We should be aware that we exist as a whole. For instance, if someone catches the flu in Egypt, there might be repercussions in France.
To me, the script is a trusteeship that I have kept from my late father, the great scriptwriter Abdelhay Adeeb. We have been working together on and off on this script since 1984, until his very last hours in a Swiss hospital. My late father has always been known for his power with words, his independency and his wide human vision when writing.
I think the film will secure a place in the History of Cinema since it has archived the last 100 years and foresees the 100 years to come. It’s important for the human being to look at his own past. The last century has been very rich in dramatic and intense events. The humanitarian question the film is trying to ask is: can a child be conceived on New Year’s Eve through all the madness we are in?
